Fáilte go Scoil Náisiúnta Naomh Mochta

On behalf of the pupils, staff and Board of Management, I would like to extend a warm welcome to St. Mochta’s National School.

Our school motto “Everyone has opportunities to succeed. Everyone is treated with respect” underpins all that we do. Learning is at the heart of all school activity. Supportive relationships and close team-work within the school community make for an inclusive and welcoming environment where everyone’s contribution is valued.

St. Mochta’s is a large co-educational catholic primary school with a focus on the social, emotional and holistic development of our pupils. We aim to provide a happy, safe and secure learning environment for all of our pupils. St. Mochta’s is an inclusive school where all children are welcome and treated equally. We strive to support each individual child in achieving his/her potential and to foster their individual talents.

We encourage our parents to become involved in our school community and we are proud to have an active Parents’ Association supporting our school.

We hope you find all the information you need on our website. We are very proud of our wonderful school community here in St. Mochta’s and thank you for your interest in our school.

All our boys, girls and staff enjoyed a celebration of hymns and songs around the Christmas tree. We bought a new 12 ft tree for the occasion and each child was invited to create their own decoration for the tree. With 9,000 lights and 835 decorations, our tree looks AMAZING!! Special thanks to Darren for all of his work on the tree. Take a look at this video of our fabulous tree!

TThe Board of Management is actively working on our extension project to establish two classes for children with an ASD-DSM V diagnosis. We are currently at the design stage and do not have a definitive timeframe for the completion of the project. It may take a number of years and the Board of Management recognises that this is a significant amount of time in a child’s life. In the interim, the Board intends to open two special classes in modular accommodation during the 2025/26 school year. Please note that enrolment is not yet open, and the specific dates for enrolment will be determined by the construction timeline for the modular accommodation. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work towards providing the best possible support for all students. We will keep you updated.
