Gallery – Second Class
We enjoyed taking part in Science week. We had lots of fun doing experiments and creating our own parachutes.
We had a busy month in 2nd class. We enjoyed lots of different art lessons including – making clay houses, Halloween silhouette painting and recreating the Northern Lights using chalk. During October we also had maths week where the we participated in a maths quiz and completed a maths trail around the school. We had a fantastic last day all dressed up in our spooky Halloween costumes.
September in Ms. Hayes’ class – In Art we created self portraits where we included some of our favourite things. We also designed polaroid cameras and added four of our favourite memories. In science we enjoyed going around the school and discovering different minibeasts.
We were delighted to welcome the children back to school after the summer holidays and they have settled in wonderfully. The children enjoyed exploring the school grounds on a minibeast hunt. We have also been busy making clay houses.
Ms Hayes class learned all about mini beasts. We used pooters to examine mini beasts in the school yard. We recorded our observations in our science books.
In Maths, we covered the topic “area”. We designed our own playgrounds. We then created our designs in Art. Every playground was unique, the kids were so creative !

May was a special month as we all celebrated our first Holy Communion.
It was an amazing day and congratulations again to all the boys and girls in 2nd class.
We also did Basketball for PE this month as well as learning all about the butterfly cycle for Art/ SESE.
Ms Hayes class had their communion on Saturday25th May! They all had a wonderful day and did brilliantly ! The Monday after they came into school and their communion suits and dresses. They looked super.
Ms Hayes class published their very own book in March ! Their book is called “animals galore”. They had a publishing breakfast party to celebrate their success as amazing authors. They should be so proud of their hard work
April in Ms. Conneely’s class.
All the boys and girls enjoyed taking part in Athletics for PE. Clay art was great fun as we made clay sunflowers this month. Africa was the theme of this month in SESE so we got to look up lots of facts on Kenya and Ethiopia as well as make African huts for Art.
Ms Hayes and Ms Sweeneys class enjoyed learning Irish dance for St Patrick’s day! They learned ‘the dreolin’ and ‘the Irish reel’. They had lots of fun

This month we were learning about Spring in Ms. McGroarty’s class. We made some lovely Spring art. We wrote reports about our favourite animals.
February in Ms. Conneely’s class.
Ms. Hayes’ class all wrote compliments about their classmates for Valentine’s Day. They really enjoyed reading what their friends thought of them 🙂 Ms. Hayes class also made dragons for Chinese New Year. They did a great job!

In January, Ms Hayes class have been learning about the weather. We each made a ‘fear sneachta’ in art. We also learnt about weather forecasters and took on the role of weather forecasters in drama!

All the boys and girls enjoyed taking part in GAA and gymnastics for PE as well as doing their winter self portraits for Art.
Ms. Sweeney’s class had great fun making Clay Cupcakes in preparation for Valentine’s Day. We will paint them next week.

Ms Sweeney’s class really enjoyed going up to 6th Class and writing and reading stories with them.
Ms Hayes’ class designed cool anti bullying jumpers using the tie dye technique for anti bullying week and also learnt DJ Rhaphis Anti- bullying dance!
They also enjoyed recycling old white socks to make cute snowmen.
